chameleon car

When we have decided which SUV to buy, hubby asked me to decide what color and I immediately said I wanted a white one. After a couple of days, while finalizing the details, we decided on a silver metallic. We figured the white one will demand to be cleaned everyday hihi. At least with the silver, the sand and dust sticking and accumulated will still look like a part of the Fortuner haha. Yeah, i guess some people really cannot decide which car color to choose. There are many things to consider: your personality, your budget for a car wash, do you want to blend with the crowd, or do you want to stand out. And in some feng shui for cars I read, they say the silver color is among the best because it looks like a fluid going smoothly along the traffic jam.

But for motorists who really cannot decide which color to choose, I have some good news for you. The latest innovation in the field is chameleon-inspired, paramagnetic paint, which changes color at the flick of a switch. Fantastic, isn't it? There is more of it. The nifty paint can reproduce any color visible to the human eye. This means you will have a virtually endless palette of colours to finish your motor in.

The idea behind the technology is fairly simple. The vehi
cle's body is coated with iron oxide before the layer of paint is applied. When an electric current passes through the paint, the spacing between the crystals is altered. This movement affects the way the paramagnetic layer reflects light, therefore causing the car to change color instantly. The hue meanwhile is dependent on the voltage applied. Once the current is switched off, the car gets the default white color.

An additional layer of clear coating is also applied to protect the paint. Nissan is actively pursuing the technology and could offer it as an option on its road cars as early ad 2010. How would you like a burgundy colour, honey?

Color changing paint allows the man to have a nice dark blue car, and for his lady to drive it in pink. (Except Kljs who has niether a nice car or any kind of lady.)
